The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has been named “Four Wheeler of the Year” by Four Wheeler magazine. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owned nearly all aspects of off-road testing during the annual Four Wheeler of the Year competition. The grueling 1,000-mile trek put each contending vehicle through its paces in several on- and off-road environments, including high-speed graded roads, jagged rocks, shifting sand dunes, and more. The universal do-all capability of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon allowed it to outperform the other competing 4x4s, making it the 2012 Four Wheeler of the Year award winner.
The Takeri is also fitted with Mazda’s i-stop idling stop system and a unique regenerative braking system called ‘i-ELOOP’ (Intelligent Energy Loop). The i-ELOOP is billed as the world’s first kinetic energy recovery system that uses a capacitor and a 25V to 12V alternator instead of a traditional battery pack.
Every time a consumer purchases a Ford vehicle, orders a brochure, or watches a product video, they will be able to raise money for schools of their choice from Ford, thanks to the company’s new tie-up with General Mills’ Box Tops for Education (BTFE) program. Ford is the first automaker to partner with General Mills and its BTFE program. The Blue Oval hopes to generate at least $1 million in support for schools throughout the U.S. during this two-month program through box top redemptions.

Eleven years ago, Ford designer Melvin Betancourt was diagnosed with an aortic dissection, a serious heart problem that, if undetected, could lead to sudden death. The doctors said he could have been straining himself and the aorta could have just popped, or he could have just gone to sleep and never woke up. Instead, thanks to a high-risk surgical procedure at the Henry Ford Hospital in metro Detroit, Betancourt was soon back on his feet helping design a new generation of Ford vehicles and biding his time for the right opportunity to give back. That opportunity came in October, when a one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, customized by Betancourt specifically for the event, raised an impressive $300,000 at an auction to support cardiovascular care, research and education at the Henry Ford Health System.
